Aviation Maintenance Technician

Perform functions assigned in the service, repair and overhaul of aircraft, aircraft components, parts and accessories. 

Primary objective is to service the aircraft safely, reliably and expeditiously. 

Assist in performing routine aircraft completion tasks under direct supervision. 

Assist in advanced tasks as part of training and development. 


Education / Certifications High School Diploma or Equivalent Required. 

FAA Airframe and Powerplant License Required. 

Experience / Qualifications Must have flight line experience and a minimum of 3-5 years prior maintenance experience, preferably in a commercial aviation environment. 

Part 135/145 experience preferred. 

Sikorsky S76 experience preferred.

A Philadelphia-based corporate flight department is seeking applicants for a Line Service Technician position. Accountabilities and Duties

 The Line Service Technician is responsible for ensuring that aircraft and the hangar are maintained to a high level of readiness as established for the Department with an emphasis on maintaining a safe working environment.

 

Specific duties of the position include:

  • aircraft cleaning, servicing, and stocking;
  • aircraft towing operations;
  • maintaining hangar stock and supplies,;
  • assisting with departing and arriving flights;
  • maintaining a clean and organized environment in the hangar;
  • greeting passengers and assisting with baggage handling;
  • assisting with managing inventory and cargo systems;
  • maintaining ground support equipment;
  • assisting in monitoring and maintaining the fuel farm and fuel inventories;

Qualifications

Job Brief

Seeking an Aircraft Structural Technician with three or more (3+) years of prior aircraft structural maintenance and repair experience. Applicant must be willing to work both on and off aircraft, and to travel throughout the U.S. periodically for one to two weeks at a time.

Job Description

Purpose and Scope:

  • The Aircraft Structural Technician's primary responsibility is to perform modifications and alterations to aircraft according to a desired engineering specification in a timely manner

  • Work as part of a team alongside other technicians; avionics, maintenance, installation.

  • Perform quality work, both on and off business aircraft

  • Support other activities as required by company requirements and management direction

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accomplish airframe structural repairs and/or alterations, to include the installation of antennas, doublers, radios, racks, instruments and equipment
  • Manufacture or repair sheet metal items in accordance to written instructions, blueprints or engineering drawings
  • Read and interpret written instructions, blueprints or engineering drawings accurately
  • Accurately and legibly record each maintenance or alteration on the proper repair station and/or customer supplied forms (to include signature or initials)
  • Maintain records such as work order documentation, logs and time & material records
  • Effectively research manufacturer’s data for appropriate repair procedures
  • Use of precision measurement tools, such as; calipers, scales, dial indicators, gauges and micrometers
  • Use of hand power tools
  • Open and close areas of the aircraft as required
  • Keep work area(s) clean and orderly
  • Manage multiple projects at one time
  • Travel throughout the U.S. to work on aircraft at an off-site location
  • Remain presentable and respectable at all times while on the job

Job Requirements

Education and Training:

  • Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification required

  • FAA repair station experience preferred

  • Be competent and experienced in the use of metal shears & metal brakes

  • Experience performing composite bonded repairs preferred

  • Experience with repairs cosmetic in nature to aircraft cabin interiors preferred

  • High School diploma/GED required. Minimum of Associates Degree preferred

Technical Requirements:

  • Applicant must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, perform layout, forming, drilling/riveting and manufacturing of aircraft parts and assemblies (not limited to sheet metal)

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

  • Ability to document work on maintenance forms legibly

  • Good communication skills; both verbally and written

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs, work on knees, bend, crouch, and reach over head

  • Assemble and install electrical, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic and structural components and accessories using hand tools and power tools
  • Adjust, align and calibrate aircraft systems using hand tools, gauges and test equipment
  • Test engine and system operations using testing equipment and listens to engine sounds to detect and diagnose malfunctions
  • Service and maintain aircraft systems by performing tasks, such as flushing crankcase, cleaning screens, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes
  • Perform maintenance IAW FAA approved technical data
  • Research FAA technical data to locate applicable data relevant to assigned tasks
  • Additional duties may be assigned

  • The Mechanic reports as assigned by the Director of Maintenance and Maintenance Supervisor

Purpose and Scope

  • The Installation Technician is responsible for installation of avionic components, in accordance with Pro Star Aviation manuals, Manufacture’s Manuals, including Service Bulletins and Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • The Technician may be assigned to such housekeeping duties as policing his work area or repair and maintenance of company property.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that work is accomplished in the best workmanship manner and that an airworthy condition exists on all work performed.
  • Performing the work as outlined on various work forms or as assigned by the Avionics Installation Shop Manager and shall refer to work forms or required technical data for the proper performance of the job.
  • Making the proper entries on forms and work orders used by Pro Star Aviation and will assume responsibility by signing of all work performed by him/her at the time the work is completed, by signature, initials, or stamp.
  • For continuity between the technician and the inspector, it shall be the responsibility of the technician to contact the inspector for inspection of work completed or in process. That is, the assembly of sub-assemblies before panel close-out, operational checks, etc. Failure to do so will require re-opening of those areas and re-performance of required inspections, tests, torques, etc.
  • Notify the Avionics Installation Shop Manager immediately of any condition that may arise that could present him with a problem for parts, materials, airworthiness or workmanship.
  • Having sufficient hand tools to perform his duties as required.
  • Attending training programs as established or scheduled by the company.
  • Supervise the work of any unlicensed personal working for him/her.
  • Such other duties and responsibilities as the Avionics Installation Shop Manager may assign to him/her.

Organization Relationship

  • The Mechanic reports as assigned by the Avionics Installation Shop Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and Training

  • Currant FAA Airframe and Power-Plant (A&P) License desired but not required.
